RSC Equipment Rental recently contributed to the efforts of a non-profit organization that offers transitional housing and other social services in Paola, Kan., about 40 miles south of Kansas City, Mo. RSC Equipment Rental provided the organization, My Father’s House, with equipment to complete its latest project.

The project includes remodeling a nursing home into a 15,000-square-foot facility that will offer living quarters for homeless women and families, plus job training, life-skills education, GED classes and other programs designed for its residents to become self-sufficient.

Recently, construction came to a standstill because of a water main break that occurred during renovation.

“It was like a marsh outside,” said Jay Preston, executive director of My Father’s House. “It was difficult for workers to finish construction and it put us behind schedule.” Scott Miros, project foreman with D’Agostino Mechanical, heard about the water main break and said he knew RSC would lend a hand and donate equipment.

“Scott told us about My Father’s House and problems with the water main, and we immediately wanted to help,” said Mike Eubank, RSC sales representative. “We knew donating the use of one of our backhoes would make a big difference, and we were pleased to help in any way we could.”

“RSC’s contribution to us makes all the difference,” Preston said. “We’re on a minimal budget, and hadn’t planned on having to replace pipes and water lines, so when RSC stepped up to the plate, it was a big help.”

With those problems solved, remodeling work continued at My Father’s House. The new facility is scheduled to open within a few months.
