The U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 with respect to the pending acquisition of Neff by United Rentals, United and Neff announced today.

The termination of the waiting period under the HSR Act satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the pending acquisition, which remains subject to other customary closing conditions. United Rentals has reaffirmed its expectation that the transaction will close in early October.

United Rentals agreed to acquire Neff Rentals last month in a $1.3 billion deal.

United Rentals, based in Stamford, Conn., is No. 1 on the RER 100. Neff Rental, headquartered in Miami, is No. 10.
