March 5, 2013

Sunbelt Rentals has acquired substantially all of the assets of Milwaukee High Lift and Madison High Lift, two independent aerial equipment rental companies serving the metropolitan markets of Milwaukee and Madison, Wis. Both companies were majority owned by founder and industry veteran Mark Lancourt. The two companies, owned by the same management group led by Lancourt, operated as independent companies serving the Milwaukee and Madison, Wis., markets.

“Sunbelt wanted to be in the area and Milwaukee and Madison High Lift will be the perfect platform for its growth in the region,” Dan Conway, managing director of FocalPoint Securities, which served as exclusive financial advisor to the aerial company, told RER. “Mark always wanted to grow the company and this gives him the perfect opportunity for growth. So everybody is happy.”

Lancourt, along with his management team, will continue to work with Sunbelt overseeing the regional development. Milwaukee High Lift and Madison High Lift specialized in the rental of scissorlifts, articulated and telescopic booms and other aerial machines.

“Sunbelt is the ideal partner for Milwaukee High Lift because we share the same culture, a culture dedicated to providing our customers with high-quality equipment and excellent customer service,” said Lancourt. “With Sunbelt’s resources, we will be able to meet our growing demand and execute our regional growth strategy.”

Lancourt added that FocalPoint’s industry expertise was “critical in communicating our strengths and market strategy and in ultimately closing the transaction.”

Milwaukee High Lift was founded by rental industry veteran Mark Lancourt in 2001. He then founded Madison High Lift in 2009. The four-member management team has been renting aerial equipment to customers in the region for more than 100 years collectively.

Fort Mill, S.C.-based Sunbelt Rentals is the second-largest equipment rental company in North America.
