Nicolas Gagnon, Quebec regional manager for SMS Rents, will join the second annual “Ride to Conquer Cancer” with teams of cycling enthusiasts will ride 200 kilometers through the Quebec countryside from Montreal to Quebec City to raise funds to combat cancer. Last year the ride attracted nearly 1,500 participants who raised CA$5.7 million for the Segal Cancer Center of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal as well as several other cancer centers in the province.

Funds are distributed to several programs supporting breakthrough research, exemplary teaching and compassionate care.

Gagnon is one of eight members of SMS that have been personally affected by cancer in their families, including Patrick Carpentier, a Quebec racing driver seen on NASCAR and CASCAR circuits. The Equipment SMS team has committed itself to raise $20,000 for the cause, with each member pledging to collect $2,500 in donations.

Gagnon has set up a personal webpage on the Ride to Conquer Cancer website — www.conquercancer.ca — where web visitors can make donations and follow the ride’s progress.

SMS Rents is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
