Puckett Machinery, Mississippi Cat Dealer, to Build New Headquarters

Puckett Machinery, Caterpillar dealer for the state of Mississippi, said this week it will move its headquarters from Jackson, where it has been based for 71 years, to nearby Flowood.

Puckett Machinery, Caterpillar dealer for the state of Mississippi, said this week it will move its headquarters from Jackson, where it has been based for 71 years, to nearby Flowood, where it will build a $20 million to $30 million facility across from Nucor Steel, the clarionledger.com is reporting. The new 150,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in the fall of 2013.

Puckett Machinery chairman and CEO Richard Puckett told the Clarion Ledger the company was attracted by Flowood’s low crime rate and business-friendly environment. He added that it will be cheaper to build a new facility than to fully upgrade the existing one.

The company said Puckett Power Systems will remain in its Jackson building after the move, with the remainder to be sold. The new facility will be about 20-percent larger than the current headquarters, with all of its functions under one roof, rather than scattered across several buildings in the current facility.

Puckett also has a strong rental program, Puckett Rents, No. 42 on the RER 100.
