Cooper Equipment Rentals, one of Canada’s largest equipment rental companies, has opened Cooper Trench Safety, a specialty division to meet the trench safety needs of contractors in the greater Toronto area.

Cooper CEO Darryl Cooper told RER that the trench safety division, located in Stouffville, Ontario, in the GTA, represents “a substantial investment and full line offering of everything from trench shields, shoring and road plate to complete slide rail systems. We decided to get into this business because a large number of our existing customers were doing business with us on the traditional rental lineup and then going elsewhere to rent their trench safety equipment. We believe the market is underserved in the GTA and we felt we could offer a ‘one stop shop’ solution for our customers. Cooper Trench Safety is operating as a separate division under the Cooper Equipment umbrella so as to keep and maintain a high level of expertise which is required in a specialty safety business like this.”

Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Cooper Equipment Rentals offers a full line of compact, aerial and heavy construction and industrial equipment. The company, established in 1972, is No. 42 on the RER 100, having grown significantly through acquisition in recent years, most notably the purchase of SMS Rents, giving it 21 locations in Ontario and Quebec.
