The Gorman family started United Lift Truck in 1963, acquiring the Hyster dealership in May 1990.

Nacco Material Handling Group named Alta the Hyster dealer in the Chicago area, western Michigan and northern Indiana markets on Jan. 1. Alta, based in Wixon, Mich., with nine locations in Michigan, has since acquired Eaton Rapids, Mich.-based Mid-State Industrial Services and Aurora Lift, Montgomery, Ill. It also recently acquired Southfield, Mich.-based Wolverine Tractor & Equipment Co. from Volvo Construction Equipment, making Alta Michigan’s authorized dealer of Volvo construction equipment.
