Aggreko Names New CEO

May 29, 2014

Aggreko, the world leader in temporary power and temperature control services, has named Chris Weston its new CEO. Weston, currently managing director, international downstream at Centrica plc, and an executive director running the group’s largest division, will join Aggreko next year after completing his commitments at Centrica.

Aggreko’s current interim CEO Angus Cockburn, will continue in his position. Cockburn had previously indicated to Aggreko’s board that he had decided not to apply for the position on a permanent basis because, after 14 years at Aggreko primarily as chief financial officer, he planned to step down from the group later this year to seek fresh challenges.

Aggreko has named Carole Cran, currently interim CFO, as CFO and executive director. Cran will join the board of directors immediately.

“Chris brings senior experience of the energy industry and proven leadership skills in a large international business,” said Ken Hanna, chairman of Aggreko. “He has consistently succeeded in driving performance and growth in his career and we believe he has the skills and vision to continue Aggreko’s growth and lead the group to the next level.”

At Centrica, Weston is responsible for both British Gas in the U.K. and Direct Energy in the United States, with revenues of £22 billion (almost U.S. $37 billion). Weston joined Centrica in 2001 after a career in the telecoms industry.

“Aggreko is a fascinating business and I’m very excited to be taking on this role,” said Weston. “I have watched and admired Aggreko’s tremendous growth over recent years and I look forward to working with Carole and the entire management team to develop the company further in the coming years.”

Aggreko is headquartered in Scotland, with North American headquarters in Houston. The company is No. 6 on the RER 100.
