Qualcomm Inc. exhibited at the recent Bauma Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, to help launch its GlobalTRACS equipment management software in Europe. The system has been available for four years in North American on construction equipment, tracking, monitoring and managing equipment by providing operational and location information, as well as critical systems alerts such as engine overheat. Data collected from detailed engine hours and critical systems monitoring and alerts by sensors, help companies to better schedule preventive and emergency maintenance to decrease downtime and reduce maintenance costs.

Qualcomm is introducing the European version of the GlobalTRACS solution after two years of intensive market research and technical development working with rental companies, OEMs and contractors in Europe. Qualcomm is also introducing GlobalTRACS to people outside of the OEM, dealer, rental company and contractor networks. For example, De Lage Landen International B.V., a global asset-based finance company based in the Netherlands, is testing the system to consider offering it to its customers as its preferred telematics services system for construction equipment.
