Wavecrest Protects Sensitive Electrical Equipment from Unplanned Power Disturbances
Poor power quality leads to a rise in electrical circuit failures, contributing to higher costs and longer downtimes. The new patent-pending Wavecrest offers an all-in-one solution that addresses these problems. It protects sensitive electrical equipment from unplanned power disturbances including harmonics, surge, sags, swells, transients, overvoltage, undervoltage, EMI noise, and more.
Wavecrest is designed to protect against harmful and annoying power disturbances, cleaning up “dirty” power to protect equipment on a dedicated circuit. This 30-amp technology is available for 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, and 480v Y and 240v 3-phase circuits in a compact design. Wavecrest power quality protection provides protection for LED lighting, heat pumps, hot water circulators, point-of-sale systems, computers, phone systems, gas pump controls, and other electrical equipment.
Poor power quality or “dirty” power can lead to a variety of problems with any equipment containing electrical circuitry, from EMI noise causing LED lights to flicker, to harmonics causing data loss in computer systems, to overvoltage burning out the circuit board on a newly installed heat pump.
Protection against surge
With a unique, multi-stage design, Wavecrest uses a patent-pending array of MOVs, capacitors, chokes, and transformers to protect against surge (with let-through voltage of only 10 percent, the company says), harmonics, RFI, transients, notching, noise, flicker, and more. The Wavecrest also provides one-of-a-kind overvoltage protection. If a mishap of over or under voltage occurs, as commonly occurs when power comes back online after an outage or a neutral wire is accidently disconnected, the Wavecrest opens the circuit, protecting connected equipment, and the Wavecrest itself, from failing because of the voltage condition. The diagnostics display helps the user understand the status of their power and the equipment.
Innovative in function and cost, the Wavecrest is economical enough to install on effected circuits that might not require overhauling the power conditions for an entire building. Because it is installed on a per-circuit basis (30a max), users can pinpoint the protection to one location or scale it to many problematic areas.
