Bigge Crane and Rigging purchased four new Liebherr LR1300SX 300-ton capacity crawler cranes at the recent Bauma trade show held in Munich, Germany. The 1300SX crawler cranes are the workhorses of Bigge’s large wind-power fleet. With this purchase, Bigge has the largest fleet of LR1300SX crawler cranes in the world, the company said.
The Liebherr LR1300SX has a maximum lifting capacity of 330 tons and a main boom length of 393 feet. This crane also features an innovative derrick system incorporating a suspended counterweight for stability when lifting extreme loads. Another advantage of the LR1300SX is that the track can be compacted from 8 to just under 5 meters for easier transportation between sites.
“Bigge has been a long-time partner of Liebherr, but we wouldn’t have the largest LR1300SX fleet in the world if the machines did not consistently exceed our customer’s as well as our own expectations,” said Joe Nelms, vice president of marketing.
Bigge now has more than two dozen of this model crawler crane in its fleet. The LR1300SX models is optimized for wind-tower work because its luffing jib is 20- to 40-percent bigger than any other in its class. Available from all of Bigge’s 13 locations, the company has the full kit for this crane available from its hubs in Houston; Los Angeles and San Leandro, Calif.; and Richmond, Va.
Bigge’s crane rental fleet has more than 500 machines, available for both bare lease and operated and maintained rentals. Bigge provides all its customers with dedicated project managers, factory-trained technicians and field support, and has a nationwide, strategic network of service locations.
