POD-2000 Leaves Other Grinders in the Dust

The Blastrac POD-2000 grinder, introduced at World of Concrete, features patent-pending Point of Development technology that allows grinding dust to be immediately collected at the point where it is generated. The POD-2000 also features high-velocity dust ports that rotate with the diamond tooling. Other grinders allow dust to get airborne, making it harder to collect and wearing diamonds faster, the company says.

The POD technology allows air to constantly circulate through the diamond tooling, keeping them clean and cool, thus allowing the diamond tooling to last from 25- to 30-percent longer than those without the technology, according to the company.

The POD technology is designed to be both a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for preparing concrete surfaces. Because dust is collected as it forms, no cleanup is required after grinding is completed. Other contractors, even those rolling or spraying coatings, can work on the same jobsite while the POD-2000 is grinding because the process is so clean, the company says.

Ground Heaters Speeds Up Drying Time With Dehumidifiers

Designed to increase production and drying time, the Dryvex R110 (pictured) and R55 commercial dehumidifiers from Ground Heaters offer the construction and restoration industries a fast-drying jobsite solution. Featured at The Rental Show, both units are refrigerant-based systems that operate on a dehumidifying technology where moisture-filled air passes across the evaporator coil and causes water to condense and evaporate into the air.

“The Dryvex R110 and R55 units are built to high specifications and can withstand construction and restoration site applications,” says Ken Cannella, product development director for Ground Heaters. “The units provide a higher cfm airflow rate and a larger btu compressor.”

The R110 features an airflow rate of 471 cfm and has a drying capacity of up to 229 pints per day at 90-percent relative humidity and a temperature of 90 F. At maximum capacity, the unit can dry a 1,200-square-foot space with 8-foot ceilings. A sturdy handle and roller wheels make it easy to position the 139-pound unit.

The smaller R55 features an airflow rate of 294 cfm based on conditions of 60-percent relative humidity and a temperature of 80 F. At maximum capacity, the R55 can handle a 600-square-foot space with 8-foot ceilings. It weighs 112 pounds and features the same build as the R110.

Ride-On Attachment Gives Operators A Lift

The Toro Company introduced the TX platform, a ride-on attachment for tracked Toro Dingo compact utility loaders, at The Rental Show. The platform helps decrease operator fatigue and increase comfort, especially in applications that require extensive hauling or cover substantial distances.

The TX Platform is designed to provide a safe, smooth ride by pivoting up and down to float with uneven terrain, which allows for a stable and level platform for the operator. A rubber pad at its hinge point reduces transmission of machine vibration to the user. The platform is accompanied by a handlebar that can be mounted to the dash for added operator safety.

Constructed of heavy-duty steel, the platform measures 29 inches wide, operates 5 inches above the ground and weighs 94 pounds. When not in use, it folds up and stores against the machine in a locked position.

“The TX Platform is a simple way for operators to minimize walking when hauling materials or just maneuvering their compact utility loader,” says Greg Lawrence, marketing product manager for the Toro Dingo product line.

Attachment Chops Work Down to Size

Contractors developing construction sites, clearing firebreaks or removing undergrowth can now knock down or grind unwanted trees with the forestry cutter attachment package from Bobcat. Introduced at World of Concrete, the attachment package includes a Bobcat forestry cutter attachment and a required forestry applications kit that can be installed on specific Bobcat loaders.

The attachment features a 60-inch cutting width and 30 carbide cutting teeth for faster production. Operators can punch into large-diameter trees with the attachment to bring the uppermost limbs to the ground. The cutter's tube-style drum and spiral tooth pattern allow one tooth to engage at a time so operation is smoother and less horsepower is required for the job.

The attachment is designed to be easy to operate. By lowering the cutter onto the tree, its cutting teeth can rip it to shreds. Tilt the forestry cutter forward to throw material against counter combs that reduce the wood particles to fine mulch. Lowering the optional front gate will help retain material. The durable design of the cutter allows it to work in extreme conditions to tear or grind trees.

Jenny Products Presents Portable Compressor

Displayed at The Rental Show, the K-Series gas-powered wheeled-portable compressors from Jenny Products feature the “K” pump, a heavy-duty, single-phase cast-iron compressor pump. Four models within the series boast 5.5-hp Honda GX engines. Operating on either a recoil or electric start, the K-Series single-stage compressors deliver 8.9 cfm at 100 psi or 8.6 cfm at 125 psi for quick recovery.

The compressors are available in four tank configurations: 8- and 15-gallon tanks, which are low-profile, powder-coated twin tank receivers; and 17- and 30-gallon tanks, which are powder coated and ASME certified.

Lifting handles integrated into opposite ends of the compressors' frames ensure the power gets where it is needed on the jobsite, and pneumatic tires further enhance the K-Series' portability. The 17- and 30-gallon tanks come standard with two tires, while the 8- and 15-gallon tanks offer the option of one or two tires.

In addition to standard features of an enclosed heavy-duty belt guard, anti-vibration feet and a large canister intake filter, the K-Series single-stage compressor also comes with an optional oil-sight glass lubricator and air-line filter. Other engine and pressure options are available upon request.
