David Huie, owner of Construction Forklift Services, Santa Ana, Calif., was killed in a car accident June 7.
Huie, 60, a collector of classic Corvette cars, was driving his 1972 model convertible to the garage where he stored his vehicles when an 18-wheeler struck a fire hydrant, lost control, tipped over and fell on Huie’s car. The car was crushed and Huie was killed instantly. His wife, Brenda, said he was three minutes away from the garage.
Brenda Huie told the Orange County Register that although Huie owned several Corvettes and Porches, he was far from being a reckless driver and that his family and friends teased him for driving too slowly and carefully.
Sharon Liss of Victory Group, Franklin, Tenn., one of CFS’ suppliers, told RER Huie was “quite a man of integrity and honesty, very loyal to his people and to his customers.” His wife said he “fell in love with forklifts. He’d sell them and I’d mop up the paperwork.”
Huie is also survived by his children David Jr. and Monica.
