Pacific Rent-All, Hilo, Hawaii, is closing its doors after 37 years of rental operations. Owner Masami Aito opened United Rent-All in 1966, the first rental company in the main port of the big island of Hawaii. He moved the company to its current location in 1973, but is now closing because of too much price competition. Aito toldRER there are three other rental centers doing business in this small community of 80,000 people.
Aito put his business up for sale two years ago and attracted numerous inquires but no buyers. He eventually decided to pull the company off the market, and is liquidating his inventory, expecting to sell everything over the next couple of months.
