Generac Power Systems, Waukesha, Wis., has formed a new Dealer Advisory Council to give dealers a forum for voicing their current and future needs. The first meeting of the six members was held in late October and a second meeting will be held in spring 2009.

“Comprised of seven members from different key markets across the country, the new Dealer Advisory Council will give us an opportunity to gain valuable insight on market trends, product needs, and initiatives which will ensure continued mutual success in our future efforts,” said Johanna Ball, channel manager, Guardian Dealers, Generac.

In the first meeting, members defined and created the purpose and structure of the council, which will focus on four distinct business segments — sales and marketing, service and warranty, training and product development. Members of the council include:

• Jim Fish, Fish Electric, Spring, Texas
• Charles Perkins, Perkins Electric Co., Sharpsburg, Ga.
• Kerry Taylor, Millersburg Electric, Millersburg, Ohio
• Don Dunavant, D Square Energy Systems, North Bend, Wash.
• William Ferrigno Jr., Assurance Power Systems, Boca Raton, Fla.
• Paul Bonomo, Cannondale Generators, Wilton, Conn.
• Paul Gilden, Energy Cost Control Corp., Buffalo, N.Y.

There has been a high consumer demand for standby power solutions due to the severe weather conditions that have occurred within the past few years and the ongoing aging of the grid system nationwide. The new Dealer Advisory Council was formed to allow Generac to create a better alliance with its dealers which, in turn, will help dealers be more responsive and timely with the standby power needs of their customers. According to Ball, Generac’s proactive approach will not only assist in responding to dealer and consumer needs but also help to determine business trends in each key market.

Since 1959, Generac Power Systems has been a manufacturer and marketer of standby generators, automatic transfer switches, modular paralleling systems, and small engines for recreational vehicle, residential, commercial, telecommunications and industrial applications. Generac’s standby power systems range in output from 2 to 9,000 kilowatts.
