Holt Cat, the Caterpillar equipment and engine dealer for South, Central, North and Northeast Texas, displayed the new Cat 336EH hybrid excavator at Earth Day Dallas recently. The hybrid excavator provides up to 50-percent greater fuel efficiency in comparison to the 336D model and uses up to 25-percent less fuel compared to Caterpillar’s 336E. In terms of CO2 emissions reduction, by using 25-percent less fuel operating the hybrid excavator is equivalent to taking 12 passenger vehicles off the road annually, according to the EPA.
Holt Cat is a second-year sponsor and participant in Earth Day Dallas.
“Holt Cat provides products and solutions to our customers that are both good for the environment and the bottom line,” said Holt executive vice president and general manager Dave Harris. “With the launch of the hybrid excavator and our recent energy-efficiency initiatives, we help customers integrate sustainability and efficiency into their core businesses.”
“The Cat 336E H hybrid excavator delivers the same power, productivity, reliability and durability as the standard 336E, but gets the job done with far less fuel,” said Ken Gray, global large excavator product manager for Caterpillar. “Customers can pay back their investment over a standard machine in as little as 12 months with 18 to 24 months being typical.”
Holt Cat recently opened three LEED-certified Silver and Gold facilities designed for energy efficiency and use of renewable resources for its stores, training centers and operations. Also, Holt Cat has made lighting upgrades and retrofits at multiple facilities across Texas. These improvements have reduced power consumption by 2.8 million kWh — the equivalent of removing 467 cars from the road each year.
Holt Cat, based in San Antonio, is No. 15 on the RER 100.
