Riwal to Provide In-House Trucking Service in UK Operations
European aerial work platform and telehandler rental giant Riwal has internalized its transport services in the United Kingdom with an investment in trucking equipment. Since establishing Riwal’s in the U.K. in 2009, the company has used sub-contracted haulers throughout the U.K. However, because of the growth in its fleet size and the expansion of its branch network, the company decided to bring the core transport requirements in-house.
Riwal said the investment will improve the control over transport quality and efficiency and will bring Riwal closer to its customers.
The investment consists of MAN trucks and King trailers, as well as MAN rigid plant vehicles for customers with restricted delivery access requirements. The trucks will be utilized around the entire Riwal U.K. branch network to provide on-time deliveries, short collection lead times and equipment familiarization for customers.
“We undertook an in-depth review of our external transport usage and how we could best service our customers, keeping in mind the increasing safety requirements to major sites such as Crossrail and The Olympic Project,” said Tim White, Riwal UK’s managing director. “We chose a Euro 6 engine on all vehicles to reduce our carbon emissions and all trucks are Crossrail compliant with reversing cameras and additional mirrors and signage to ensure the safety of all road users.”
Riwal is based in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, and specializes in the rental of aerial and power generation equipment in 17 countries on three continents.
