Genie Adds 74-HP Engine to GTH-844 Rough Terrain Telehandler
Genie showed its redesigned GTH-844 rough-terrain telehandler at the World of Concrete, now with a 74-hp Tier 4 Final engine option. The unit has a high-torque version of the Deutz turbo-charged 3.6 L engine, optimized for 74-hp performance.
“An engine has a big impact on a machine’s overall rental return on invested capital, so we kept things simple and cost-effective with the updates to our popular GTH-844 telehandler,” said Anders Mantere, Genie telehandler product manager. “By optimizing the drivetrain, and utilizing the new high-torque, 74-hp engine, the GTH-844 is a less complex machine at a lower price point.”
Genie also continues to offer a 99-hp Tier 4 Final Deutz 3.6 L diesel engine and a 99-hp Tier 4 Final Perkins turbocharged diesel engine.
Genie also updated other components, including the axles. The new Dana axles have two gear ratios that are performance-matched to each engine size. An optional rear proximity alarm can be used to supplement the operator’s direct and redirect visibility, providing an audible and visual indication of obstacles within the detection range.
The telehandler can be transported without an over-width permit at 97.5 inches wide and 94 inches high. It has an outside turning radius of 13 feet, 9 inches.
