Maureen Acton, Volvo Rents VP of Human Resources, Dies

April 10, 2013

Maureen Acton, Volvo Rents vice president of human resources, died suddenly last week. Acton joined the company two years ago and established Volvo Rents human resources strategy, creating and implementing HR policies and procedures. Acton played an integral role in growing the company, which started with 100 employees to more than 2,100 today.

Acton worked diligently with health-care providers to create what Volvo officials call one of the best healthcare plans in the industry.

The human resources role was particularly important as Volvo Rents acquired companies. “Maureen was often the first friendly face representing the company to new employees,” said a Volvo Rents statement. “Her orientation allayed fears and gave comfort to many new team members who were insecure about the direction of their futures.”

Volvo Rents described Acton as a deeply compassionate person who always had time to hear about issues or problems faced by other Volvo Rents staff.

Acton was 66. She is survived by her husband Jimmy, two sons and six grandchildren.
