Volvo CE Names Pat Olney President

Volvo Construction Equipment named Patrick Olney president and CEO, effective May 1. Olney is a veteran of 17 years in the construction equipment industry, 10 of these in senior management roles within Volvo CE.

Volvo Construction Equipment named Patrick Olney president and CEO, effective May 1. Olney is a veteran of 17 years in the construction equipment industry, 10 of these in senior management roles within Volvo CE.

Olney served as chief financial officer of Volvo CE from 2001 through 2004, and was then named president of Volvo Motor Graders, a position he held until 2007 when he became president of Volvo Road Machinery. Since 2009, Olney has been executive vice president and head of operations at Volvo CE, responsible for global manufacturing and purchasing.

In 1994, Olney received the Chartered Accountant Designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He holds an honors degree in business administration from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. Before joining Volvo, Olney held various positions at Price Waterhouse.

“I am very pleased with Pat Olney as my successor,” said Olof Persson who leaves Volvo CE to become deputy CEO of AB Volvo as of May 1. “He has a long and extensive experience in the construction equipment industry and has been instrumental in putting Volvo CE’s new strategy in place. He has delivered very well as executive vice president of global operations and in his previous positions.”

Persson will become president and CEO of AB Volvo September 1.
