Finning Acquires U.K.'s Maxxiom

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Finning International, through its U.K. subsidiary Hewden Stuart, acquired the majority of the remaining assets of Maxxiom Limited, company officials said. These assets include the general equipment, hoist and accommodation assets of Maxxiom. Hewden acquired the 640-unit material-handling division of Maxxiom in June 2001.

Commenting on the acquisition, Doug Whitehead, president and CEO of Finning said, “This strategic move expands Hewden's rental fleet by 7,200 units and further consolidates Hewden's position as the leading equipment rental company in the U.K. The acquisition will leverage Hewden's existing cost base and be accretive immediately.”

Vancouver-based Finning is No. 17 on the RER 100.
