Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power last week announced that Vanguard single-cylinder engines with the TransportGuard system won a Most Innovative Product Award at the 2010 World of Concrete show. The new engines are available with gross horsepower ratings from 5.5 hp to 10.0 hp.

Exclusive to Vanguard, the new engines feature a single lever design called the TransportGuard system. During transport, engines are subjected to vibration causing fuel to flow through the engine and into the oil. The TransportGuard system simultaneously shuts off fuel and the ignition eliminating oil/fuel dilution during transportation.

“We were delighted to receive a MIP award,” said Dan Roche, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. “It’s amazing how one simple solution can solve so many worksite problems. By listening to our customers, we determined that fuel in the oil was costing equipment owners and rental firms money. The TransportGuard system solves this problem.”

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power is headquartered in Milwaukee.
