Snorkel, a leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms, will showcase its latest articulated boomlift at The Rental Show 2012 this week in New Orleans.

The Snorkel A62JRT is a 62-foot platform height articulated boom built on Snorkel’s common Polaris chassis and will be in full production next year. This chassis is designed to deliver the best inside turning radius of any two-wheel-steer machine in its class and offers very compact stowed dimensions for transport, the company said. The oscillating front axle, with hydrostatic four-wheel drive keeps all four tires in contact with the ground — and works whether the machine is stowed or elevated.

Snorkel showed an early prototype of the A62JRT at ConExpo 2011. The pre-production model was unveiled at the Lift & Access Showcase & Symposium in Arizona in November.

“The performance and low total ownership costs of this lift make it a great rental product for family-run companies through to the largest equipment rental corporations,” said Richard Tindale, global sales and marketing director. “Snorkel’s engineering team has made improvements right across the board, to give our customers an all-rounder that is powerful, durable, intuitive to control and very easy to service or maintain.”

The A62JRT replaces the old Snorkel AB60JRT, offering improved drive and lift capabilities (particularly up-and-over clearance) and a 100-percent reduction in tail swing compared to the older model. The new model offers maximum platform height at 61 feet, 8 inches and up-and-over clearance of 29 feet, 6 inches. It also has the largest platform cage in its class, according to Snorkel, of 96 by 39 inches, and the most compact length when stowed for transport at 27 feet, 10 inches.

Snorkel is also running a special promotion exclusive to ARA members on Snorkel TM12 compact self-propelled mast lifts, by offering immediate delivery for orders taken at the show. Lead times are currently in excess of four months, so this represents a significant opportunity for ARA members visiting New Orleans.

At The Rental Show Snorkel will also feature the A38E and A46JE all-electric articulated boomlifts; the UL32DC push-around mast lift range; S1930E compact electric slab scissor; S2632E and S3246E electric slab scissors; MB26J electric mast boomlift; TL39 compact towable boomlift; and the Pop-Up PUSH 8 Pro push-around scissor.

The Rental Show 2012 takes place in the Ernest Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Feb. 6-8. Snorkel’s booth is No. 9913 in the Construction area.
