Every month, dozens of new products are introduced by manufacturers serving the rental industry. Here is a look at some of the latest offerings.

WEG Electric Motors has developed a control regimen for standard totally enclosed fan-cooled induction motors. This OptimalFlux technology is designed for use in driving loads that require constant torque over variable speeds, such as those encountered with compressors and conveyor belts. It also enables a standard motor to operate at a much cooler temperature across its entire speed range.

The Fold-Up utility trailer from Lifetime Products combines space-saving technology with the functionality and durability of a traditional work hauler. After operators have hauled their equipment, they use the easy-to-operate crank to fold the trailer to 29 inches wide in less than 90 seconds. The heavy-duty trailer comes in three sizes — 4-foot by 6-foot, 5-foot by 6-foot, and 5-foot by 8-foot — and holds 1,000 to 1,500 pounds.

Bomag's BPR25/40 series reversible plates have the compact size and maneuverability of a single-direction plate, but offer a higher centrifugal force and the convenience of reversibility. With a working width of just under 16 inches, the unit can work in confined areas that larger reversible plates cannot reach, making the series suited for landscaping, site prep, patios and sidewalks, and other mid-size applications. Maximum frequency is 5,100 vpm.

Bobcat introduces a line of tree spade attachments that are available in five sizes and in truncated, modified and cone blade configurations. The tree spades are available in sizes of 24, 28, 32, 36 and 44 inches. The truncated blade configuration has a 22-degree tower angle that provides a better stand on the tree when placed in the basket, and is best for use in loamy soils. The modified blades have a tower angle of 25 degrees, which allows the tree to be placed in baskets. The cone blade configuration works best in sandy soils.

Ramrod offers self-leveling loader lift arms on all 2008 mini-skid models. This feature prevents load fall back on the operator at full lift height, eliminates the danger of losing a load during the raising and lowering process, and provides improved dump and rollback angles in any position. As the material bucket is lifted or lowered, it will always remain parallel to the ground with the self-leveling feature.

The MDF35 long-reach air tool from General Equipment uses an internal valving mechanism, which allows the piston to deliver increased kinetic energy per blow. Featuring steel barrel construction and weighing 18.5 pounds, the MDF35 requires a flow rate of 11 cfm at 90 psi and produces 3,100 blows per minute. It is designed for a wide variety of applications including the removal of floor tile, mastics, adhesives and general concrete as well as stripping material build-ups.
