Atlas Copco began construction this week of a new distribution center in China. The facility, located in Nanjing, will strengthen the distribution of parts and consumables in South East Asia.

The construction of the 4,000-square-meter facility, with the option to extend with a further 4,000 square meters, follows the strategy to strengthen Atlas Copco’s customer support in the South East Asia region. Customers will benefit from improvements in storage and shipping capabilities for spare parts and consumables.

“The new distribution center shows our strong commitment to customers in the region, and is another step in our ambition to strongly develop the business and continue to be the customers’ first choice,” said Björn Rosengren, business area president Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique.

The distribution center will supply spare parts and consumables for the Construction and Mining business area. The city of Nanjing was selected because of its proximity to the group’s production in the area. The total investment for establishing the distribution center is approximately CNY 50 million (about U.S. $7.5 million).

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco is an industrial group that produces compressors, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems. The company’s Construction and Mining Technique business area develops, manufactures, markets and services rock drilling tools, construction and demolition tools, mobile crushers and screeners, drill rigs and equipment.
