Volvo Rents has opened a new rental center in the Central Valley city of Turlock, Calif., giving the company 14 branches in the Golden State. A recent forecast by economists at IHS Global Insight says California will spend $723 billion on construction through 2016 and have the largest gain in yearly spending dollars, $76.4 billion.

California will also have the third-highest annual average percentage gain in construction spending at 15.6 percent.
