Lifting Gear Hire Corp., based in Bridgeview, Ill., is lending equipment to aide in the completion of what will be the nation’s largest covered bridge. The bridge measures 608-feet-long by 40-feet-wide, and is made entirely of wood. There are four 152-foot-long sections weighing 325,000 pounds each that need to be put into place. These sections are to be lifted approximately 100 feet above the Ashtabula River in Ohio.

“Lifts like these are always great to see,” said LGH’s General Manager Tony Fiscelli. “When you go back to some of our previous projects, such as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Construction, or helping carry a 740-ton whirler crane across the James River, you really can gain an appreciation of the services and equipment we can supply. There’s really nothing else quite like it.”

Lifting Gear Hire Corp. ranks No. 73 on the RER 100.
