A new rental company, Basic Rental Service last week acquired the assets of American Rental Service and its sister company A to Z Rental Limited. Both companies rent contractor and homeowner equipment from single locations in Austin, Texas.
Hageman, Stansberry & Associates represented American and A to Z in the transaction.
American was founded in 1984 by the Dupy family. Fred and Bill Dupy subsequently acquired the A to Z location in the late 1990s. Fred Dupy has been active in both the Texas Rental Association and the American Rental Association, and is a past president of TRA. Fred and Bill Dupy also own and operate American Party Rental, which was not part of the transaction. The Dupys will consult with Basic Rental during a transition period.
Basic Rental Service is a newly formed entity led by industry veteran Jay Mask, who has worked extensively in the Austin rental market. Mask was, at one time, manager of the A to Z location, before going on to work with Home Depot, overseeing its Austin-area rental operations.
“American and A to Z are both established companies with good reputations in the marketplace,” said Mask, president of Basic Rental. “We intend on taking both operations to the next level by offering quality equipment and a high level of customer service. We believe that Austin is a great rental market and that customers will respond very favorably to our acquisitions. We appreciate the efforts of Hageman, Stansberry & Associates to get the deal done and we are pleased that all parties had a favorable outcome.”
Terms of the transaction were not released.
HS&A is a merger and acquisitions firm that specializes in the equipment and special event rental industry, based in Cameron Park, Calif., and Fort Worth, Texas.
