Aggreko to Power Kenny Chesney Stadium Tour

Sept. 4, 2009
Aggreko will power country singer Kenny Chesney’s tour in nine stadiums in the coming weeks, the company said. Aggreko will power the largest outdoor stadium of Chesney’s “Sun City Carnival” tour, providing more than 1.8 MW of power, enough for about 250 medium-sized American homes. A state-of-the-art video wall, sound equipment, lighting equipment and the famous “Kenny chair” that lifts the singer over the audience will receive power.

Also, temperature control equipment is required to keep all the video equipment cool and working.

“An average of 50,000 fans see Kenny’s fantastic show in each of the venues we power, so it is imperative that everything run smoothly,” said George Long, senior project manager for Aggreko Event Services. “Aggreko supplies power, heating and cooling systems designed to support all of the aspects — lighting, sound and video — of this monumental production.”

Aggreko will provide temporary power and temperature control for nine tour venues in outdoor stadiums: Papa John’s, Louisville, Ky.; Heinz Field, Pittsburgh; Soldier Field, Chicago; Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia; AT&T Park, San Francisco; Qwest Field, Seattle; Gillette Stadium, Boston; Ford Field, Detroit and Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

Aggreko has powered a wide range of major events including the 2009 presidential inauguration, the Daytona 500 and New York’s Fashion Week. The Chesney tour is the largest multi-city concert production the company has powered to date.

“We have been working with Aggreko for more than seven years and know they are the best in the business,” said Ed Wannebo, tour production manager.

Based in Scotland with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 10 on the RER 100.
