Indoogoo.com is a newly launched social network dedicated to trading construction equipment and parts. Headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Indoogo is a global platform combining the networking benefits of websites such as LinkedIn and Facebook while offering the capacity to rent, buy and sell heavy equipment. Encouraging relevant connections and offering transparent, secure online trading, the platform allows users free of charge trading and business network online.

Users, ranging from equipment dealers to multinational rental companies, can create online profiles for their companies, showcasing products and services. Indoogoo users can create unlimited listings, including up to 10 photos and four videos per piece of equipment, as well as a comprehensive resource library. On the “buy” side, users looking to purchase items are able to create RFQs to help them source the equipment they need.

All Indoogoo services are free of charge to users.

The site’s founder, Mark Turner, has more than 20 years of experience in heavy equipment trading. After setting up his own crane brokerage in 2007, Turner saw the opportunity to create a new platform for trading and networking.

“The idea behind the site came from my own experience in the industry,” Turner said. “As a trader, I was aware of the limited scope for marketing my equipment. The maturing social network structure expands the reach of clients exponentially, both geographically and in absolute user terms. By adapting the social media model to the equipment market, Indoogoo can benefit all industry professionals, whether buying, selling or renting."

As with other social networks, Indoogoo is designed to promote online interaction to connect customers, suppliers and colleagues. However, the site’s strict privacy policy and coding do not allow connections and contacts to become public, unlike typical social media sites. When creating a listing, users can choose to withhold profile information. Users interested in the anonymous listings are required to complete a Contract Questionaire, similar to a vendor prequalification questionnaire, before being considered bone fide by the seller. Indoogoo creates leads for users by informing them who has been viewing their listings. If no contact request is made by the interested party, the user can contact them directly to offer more information.

“The site is a social marketplace, based on the dynamic connections produced by social networking, combined with the sales potential of a listing site,” added Turner. “With no banner advertising, the focus of the site is entirely on user-generated contact and there is no competition between users and advertisers. Inventory and inquiries are always in prime position.”

The testing “beta” site of Indoogoo.com includes current users such as Hertz Equipment Rental Corp., which has listed more than 6,000 pieces of equipment, Prima Equipment in the Netherlands and All Cargo Logistics from India.

The website also won a bronze award for outstanding B2B website content and design in the 2014 Summit Creative Awards.
