Ditch Witch

The Zahn series of trenchers from Ditch Witch consists of three power units and a set of compatible front ends. The Zahn R300 power unit includes a Kohler gas engine, operator's console and articulation joint that enables the front end to perform like a dedicated unit. The two-wheel-drive R300 powers two types of front-end trenchers, while its four-wheel-drive InterChange counterpart accepts up to seven types of front ends: trencher, plow, dumper, tiller, backhoe, stump grinder and tool carrier that can drive more than 40 quick change attachments.

Bobcat

For contractors needing a high-flow trencher with a 4- or 5-foot dig depth, Bobcat offers the LT414 trencher attachment, which is designed for operation on Bobcat compact loaders with a high-flow auxiliary hydraulic system. The hydraulic flow capability of the trencher motor will accept flow ranging from 26 to 40 gpm to accommodate loaders with auxiliary hydraulic flow up to 37 gpm. The 4-foot dig depth trencher model is approved for use on Bobcat skid-steer loaders (models S160H through S300H), compact track loaders (T180H through T300H), and the A300H all-wheel-steer loader.

EZ-Trench

The model EZ9100 from EZ-Trench can dig a trench 13 inches deep and 2 ½ inches wide at a rate of 20 feet per minute. It is small enough to fit into standard gates and weighs only 250 pounds. The model EZ9100 has a 6.5-hp Honda engine with a “wet clutch” transmission, which virtually eliminates the frequent maintenance associated with belt-driven equipment. Heavy-duty replaceable carbide cutting bits are designed to slice through hard soils and even roots.
