SAS Acquires Offshore Equipment Supplier AXTech

SAS, a Dutch manufacturer of specialized equipment to both the international oil and gas and maritime industries, has acquired 33.33 percent of Norwegian company AXTech. The acquisition of shares in AXTech AS follows SAS' strategy to further broaden its position as supplier of engineered deck equipment for the offshore industry.

SAS, a Dutch manufacturer of specialized equipment to both the international oil and gas and maritime industries, has acquired 33.33 percent of Norwegian company AXTech. The acquisition of shares in AXTech AS follows SAS' strategy to further broaden its position as supplier of engineered deck equipment for the offshore industry.

AXTech designs and manufactures riser or buoy pull-in winches for floating production, storage and offloading vessel’s, as well as A-frames and rail/skid trolley systems for construction vessels/barges. For the well intervention market AXTech supplies complete module handling systems including towers, module pallet skids, winches, guide wire systems, moonpool doors and guide frames.

SAS was established in 1896 and is market leader for supplying offshore pipelaying equipment, such as tensioners, A&R winches, pipe handling equipment, reel drives and davits for shallow water as well as deep water. SAS also manufactures heavy duty winches for mooring, cranes, deployment and anchor-handling and towing applications.
