Putzmeister America laid off 29 people, or 23 percent of its work force, at its North American headquarters in Mount Pleasant, Wis. Putzmeister officials told local media the eliminated positions were divided between production and administrative employees.

Putzmeister makes stationary and truck-mounted concrete pumps and truck-mounted belt conveyors, used to pour concrete particularly in housing construction, the area hardest hit by the current recession.
