JCB Hosts Mud Run Benefitting the Lady Bamford Center in Savannah, Ga.

June 14, 2013

JCB hosted the second annual JCB Mud Run for charity on Saturday at JCB’s North American headquarters in Savannah, Ga. Proceeds from the 4.3-mile Mud Run race will benefit The Lady Bamford Center, which provides education and social skills development to children from six weeks to five years of age.

“After the success of last year’s race, we’re excited to host the event again and support a deserving cause,” said Karen Guinn, JCB’s general manager of marketing communications. “JCB’s earthmoving equipment will be used to create obstacles along the course on the JCB campus. Aligning the charity run with what JCB equipment does best is a fun way to give back to our community.”

Operated by Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, the Lady Bamford Center offers priority admission to children from homeless and low-income families, as well as children with physical, mental or emotional challenges. Its interactive curriculum prepares young children for kindergarten and elementary school and helps them compete with other children academically. The Lady Bamford Center was accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Fewer than eight percent of all early childhood centers in the United States receive this prestigious honor.

The more-than-1,000-acre JCB campus served as the location for more than 3,000 runners who competed in the challenging race, which includes more than 20 obstacles. In addition, JCB’s own product range of more than 140 models of construction equipment was used in building obstacles such as “Bamford Bluff,” “Dieselmax Drop” and “Powerboom Peaks.”
