CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sunbelt Rentals last month opened its newest full-service rental branch in Upper Marlboro, Md., a central location that also now includes Sunbelt's Baltimore/Washington scaffolding branch.

The new rental branch offers more than $7 million in rental inventory and the facility covers seven acres, with 16,000 square feet under one roof. The location provides convenient access to the Washington, D.C., market and the major construction on the nearby Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

“Our new branch is a great example of one company — Sunbelt — serving all our customers' equipment needs,” said Mark Ellis, regional vice president for Sunbelt Rentals. “With both general rental and scaffolding now in one convenient location, our contractor customers will always experience an easy rental transaction and quality Sunbelt service, no matter what type of project they're working on.”

Branch managers Dave Trott and Frank O'Malley each have more than 10 years of industry experience, and are leading a team of more than 50 employees to serve their large market.

Sunbelt officials announced it soon will open a startup location in Countryside, Ill., a Chicago suburb.

In personnel news, Sunbelt Rentals recently appointed two new vice presidents over the company's Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Jake Stout, Sunbelt's product support manager since 1999, was promoted to regional vice president for the growing Midwestern region, which includes Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa.

Lon Jenkins, formerly Sunbelt's upstate South Carolina Division manager, is now vice president for the Mid-Atlantic region including West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and parts of Georgia.

“Both of these gentlemen have a tremendous industry background, but more than that, they are great leaders who will continue to build strong teams,” said Brendan Horgan, chief operating officer of Sunbelt Rentals.

Stout managed Sunbelt's fleet purchasing and product support for the past six years, and was previously a national sales manager for Wooster, Ohio-based Rayco Manufacturing for 11 years.

Jenkins has been a part of tremendous growth in his region since starting with Sunbelt in 1997. He brings a wide range of Sunbelt experience to his new role, including rental manager, branch manager and division manager. Prior to joining Sunbelt, he worked for an independent rental company for several years.

Based in Charlotte, N.C., Sunbelt Rentals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashtead Group plc, is No. 4 on the RER 100.
