ELWOOD, Kan. — Snorkel International recently purchased its Elwood, Kan., office, assembly and parts, shipping and warehouse facilities from Textron Inc.

“This has been our long-term plan since restarting the company,” said Frank Scarborough, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “It's just another step in our organization's progress as we revitalize the company. Plus this indicates the confidence our investors have in the future of our company and our current management team.”

Since acquiring the company from Textron in December 2002, Snorkel has grown from a handful of employees to about 400. It manufactures jib booms that range from 42 feet to 126 feet, articulating booms from 41 feet to 60 feet and straight booms from 42 feet to 120 feet, and slab and rough terrain scissorlifts. The company also makes trailer-mounted lifts at its New Zealand production location. Snorkel has sales offices in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
