Tualatin, Ore.-based Shindaiwa Inc., a manufacturer of outdoor power equipment, last week announced the promotion of long-time executive Jorge Lazo to the new position of senior vice president of sales and technical services. Effective immediately, Lazo will be responsible for expanding the company’s global distribution and sales and service activities.

“Fact is, our biggest growth opportunities now are away from North America, and we recognize effective globalization will be key to Shindaiwa’s future,” Lazo said. “In recent years, I’ve traveled the world making certain we have distribution channels in as many countries as possible. I’ll still do some of that, but I’ll also spend more time in long-range sales and service planning.”

Starting in May on the heels of Shindaiwa’s 25th anniversary and fifth consecutive record year, Shindaiwa adjusted itself to improve competitiveness and make its products easier to sell, buy and use. “Our expectation is to triple our business in 5 years,” said Lazo. “Not easy, but it can be done.”

In his new position, Lazo will oversee Shindaiwa’s expanding network of domestic and international regional managers, and coordinate the company’s technical services and training staff. He’ll also actively participate on the executive committee in a strategic planning capacity.

Shindaiwa produces commercial-grade outdoor power equipment and eco-friendly small engine technologies.
