FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — NationsRent recently named Charles Snyder executive vice president and chief operating officer. Snyder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including the six operating regions, fleet and asset management, product support, and transportation.

Snyder joined NationsRent in June 2003 as executive vice president, fleet and asset management. Before joining NationsRent, Snyder worked for American Equipment Co., now known as AMECO, in positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as president. Snyder led AMECO's global expansion from its initial U.S. base to Asia and Latin America, doubling the company's revenues in four years and repositioning the company along three separate and unique business lines, while implementing a successful global branding strategy.

“Charles brings a successful track record and over 30 years of industry experience to this position,” said NationsRent president and CEO Jeff Putman. “He has made significant advancements in our fleet and asset management function and has served the new NationsRent as a key member of our leadership team since June 2003.”

Snyder is widely respected in the rental and distribution industries, often serving as speaker or panelist at industry events.

In other company news, NationsRent last month announced that it is now the authorized JLG telescopic material handler distributor in numerous separate marketing areas in 19 states across the United States.

In each of these areas of responsibility, NationsRent will carry one or more of the JLG brands of material handler: JLG, Lull, SkyTrak or Gradall. Every designated NationsRent distributorship will be responsible for the rental and sale of the product line and will also be the factory authorized service location. As part of becoming an authorized distributor, Nations-Rent committed to not only rent and sell the product, but to inventory new machines for retail sale, stock a full complement of JLG parts and certify service technicians as factory trained.

“NationsRent is honored to have been chosen by JLG as a national partner,” said Putman. “Our appointment as an authorized JLG distributor complements our business strategy by allowing us to offer a more complete full-service package of rentals, sales, parts and after-the-sale support to our customers.”

Craig Paylor, senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer support for JLG said, “This announcement follows the culmination of actions taken by NationsRent over the past 12 to 18 months that have qualified them to obtain JLG authorized distributor status. NationsRent is not only a sales and rental organization, but also a very service-focused company that JLG is proud to be associated with. Qualifying as an authorized distributor requires a commitment from the entire organization.”

Based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., NationsRent is No. 6 on the RER 100.
