JLG Industries will promote safety advocacy, education and awareness at the American Society of Safety Engineers Safety 2012 Conference and Exposition, June 3-5, in Denver.

“Construction-related injuries are on the rise, and it’s important to JLG that we raise awareness about safety and our innovative equipment that promotes safety,” said Randy Marzicola, JLG’s director, channel development, noting that June is National Safety Month. “Workplace safety is more important than ever.”

In 2010, 255 U.S. construction workers lost their lives as a result of falling while working from heights, and more than 10,000 were injured, according to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Both organizations have teamed up with the U.S. Labor Department to help promote safety in the construction industry.

“Falls are the most fatal out of all hazards in the construction industry, accounting for almost one in every three construction worker deaths,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, following the observance of Workers’ Memorial Day in April. “Our simple message is that safety pays, and falls cost.”

JLG will display its LiftPod family of personal portable lifts at ASSE Safety 2012. The FS60 and FS80 models offer a complete, hands-free 360-degree range of motion in a stable and enclosed platform at working heights of 12 to 14 feet.

JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corp. company, is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of access equipment, including JLG aerial work platforms; JLG, SkyTrak and Lull telehandlers; and an array of complementary accessories.
