Sakai America, headquartered in Adairsville, Ga., recently completed production of its 1,000 th American-made Sakai compactor at its manufacturing plant north of Atlanta.
The 1,000th machine was an SV-505D, a drum drive equipped, vibratory soil compactor with an 84-inch-wide compaction drum, currently one of the company’s most popular models. The SV505D develops more than 50,000 pounds of centrifugal force and is well suited to highway and airport subbases, embankments, dams and sitework for large commercial/industrial tracts.
Sakai opened its doors in 1918 and began manufacturing road rollers in 1929. In 1956, Sakai began manufacturing vibratory rollers. The company today makes a line of 29 different vibratory compactors for soil and asphalt compaction.
