Former Boxer Chuvalo a “Hit” at Champion Booth

Former Canadian Heavyweight Champion George Chuvalo’s presence at Champion Motor Graders’ booth at ConExpo was a big “hit” with booth visitors. Between 600 and 800 people stopped to talk with Chuvalo, who signed hundreds of autographs and had his picture taken with hundreds as well.

“As soon as you said Ali and Chuvalo in 1966 and 1972 people were right there,” said Robert Adeland of London, Ontario-based Marketing Strategies and Solutions, which helped coordinate Chuvalo’s appearance. “There was an instant connection. Many people remembered him and even where they saw the fight.”

Chuvalo has been a tireless crusader against drug use and speaks at about 125 schools a year across Canada to get the message out.
