Rental Service Corp. last week named Kevin O’Brien as region vice president of its Midwest region. O’Brien will oversee all RSC operations in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and North Dakota. He’ll be based in Kansas City.

O’Brien began his rental career with St. Louis-based M.J. Struckel in 1997, and remained with the company when it was acquired by RSC in 1998. He has served as a general manager, district manager and regional controller before being promoted to his current position.

“O’Brien brings strong operational experience along with bottom-line financial skills to our Midwest organization,” said RSC president and CEO Freek Nijdam.

The company also announced its involvement with Virginia’s first-ever Habitat for Humanity “Blitz Build,” March 25 to 27, at the Mid-Atlantic Home & Garden Show in Virginia Beach. The project is an attempt to build an entire home in just 48 hours.

RSC will donate several pieces of equipment for use during the build, including a forklift, scaffolding, a scissor lift, generators and a Sawzall. Company employees will also donate their time to the build.

The Blitz Build is being coordinated by the South Hampton Roads Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit association dedicated to securing decent housing for families in need. Habitat has chosen a low-income working family from the area to occupy the three-bedroom home, which the organization calls its “most ambitious and aggressive” project in its 15-year history.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based RSC is No. 2 on the RER 100.
