Torreon, Coahila, Mexico-based Maquirent last week opened a new branch, which it calls its construction supermarket, or “construmarket.” In addition to the new 3,000 square meter rental center, equipped with a 5,000-square meter demo area, the “construmarket” complex will have four or five additional warehouses and stores dedicated to the sale of construction-related materials, rental manager Jorge Perez told RER Reports.

With the new location, Maquirent has 17 branches in Mexico, making it one of the country’s largest rental companies.

More than 200 people attended the open house, which included an equipment demonstration by JCB, for which Maquirent is a distributor. Perez’ grandmother, Yolanda Rodriguez de Perezvaldez, who managed Maquirent from 1984 to 1999 -- during which time the rental company doubled in size -- cut the ribbon at the open house.
