Ingersoll-Rand has selected XPORTA Inc., a leading provider of software for global resource planning, and its Global strategic sourcing application for automating and optimizing the selection of suppliers for its worldwide manufacturing operations. The application will be a cornerstone in Ingersoll-Rand’s corporate wide program for rationalizing the selection of new qualified low cost suppliers from countries around the world. This program is aimed at reducing the cost of goods sold and driving greater profitability.
In testing XPORTA’s application, Ingersoll-Rand identified sourcing solutions that promised significant savings for a range of commonly purchased commodities. The company plans to implement the application first in its Torrington and Air Solutions Group and subsequently corporate-wide.
