Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. and GE Energy Rentals have announced a non-exclusive agreement to provide equipment as a single source to customers in North America.

Under the agreement, GE Energy Rentals power and climate control equipment will be available at several HERC facilities, with additional locations to be added in the coming months. Customers will be able to place orders at any HERC location in the United States to rent GE equipment, including generators, heating and cooling systems and light towers.

"With the new alliance, customers now have one source for their complete rental packages," said Caroline Reda, president and general manager of GE Energy Rentals. "It will help our business establish a greater presence in markets where Hertz already has strong relationships."

"The GE-Hertz partnership will generate opportunities with customers across a broader spectrum of businesses and industries," added HERC president Gerry Plescia.

HERC officials told RER that the new marketing relationship has no relation to discussions parent company Ford Motor Co. may hold with potential acquirers of HERC.

Atlanta-based GE Energy Rentals, was formed by GE Power Systems to offer rental equipment for temporary distributed power and climate control applications in the commercial, industrial, utility, oil and gas, and special events markets. It is No. 16 on the RER 100.

Park Ridge, N.J.-based HERC is No. 3 on the RER 100, with more than 350 locations in North America and Europe. HERC has more than 270 branches in North America.
