ATLANTA — New equipment orders were up at the American Rental Association's convention and trade show in February, according to most exhibitors interviewed by RER.

Although official attendance numbers were not available at press time, exhibitors were generally positive about the attendance and quantity of orders taken at the show.

“This reminds me of the old ARA shows — strong buying and a good turnout,” said Chuck Hutchinson, vice president of sales and marketing at Archbold, Ohio-based Bil-Jax.

Ron Johnson, president and CEO of MMD Equipment, Swedesboro, N.J., was also enthusiastic about the show after the first day. “It was a record day,” said Johnson. “It's the best single day we've ever had at a show.”

Kathy Reissig, marketing services manager, Stone Construction Equipment, Honeoye, N.Y., said, “We've been very pleased with the quality of people coming in. They seem to be serious about buying. We're happy with the numbers this year.”

Next year's convention will be held, February 14-17, in Las Vegas.
