CHICAGO — TruServ Corp. recently named Anthony Sabo general manager of its rental business. Sabo, a veteran of 20 years in the rental business, will manage the co-op's in-store and stand-alone rental businesses including the Just Ask Rental, Grand Rental Station, Taylor Rental and Party Central franchises.

For Sabo, it's a return to the Chicago-based TruServ. He joined the ServiStar, which merged with True Value in the late 1990s to create the TruServ organization, in 1993 as a rental product specialist. He went on to become senior merchandise manager and buyer, where he negotiated direct ship and warehouse buying programs for more than 400 vendors, planned promotional programs, organized the annual rental convention, and managed inventory levels. Before that, from 1988 to 1993, Sabo was general manager for Taylor Rental Corp., now a TruServ company. He ran the day-to-day operations for Taylor, including customer service, budgeting, human resources, purchasing, marketing and inventory control. Sabo began his rental career with U-Haul Co. in Willow Grove, Pa.

Most recently, Sabo was director of fleet operations for United Rentals in Greenwich, Conn., where he oversaw strategic sourcing and procurement and fleet and inventory management. Prior to joining United, Sabo was vice president of purchasing for HSS RentX Industries in Denver.
