Dave Merrifield, director of product safety at OmniQuip International, Port Washington, Wis., was named a certified safety professional by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Savoy, Ill.
Certification is based on professional safety experience and meeting academic requirements. Merrifield also had to pass two seven-hour examinations covering engineering and management aspects of safety, applied sciences, legal and regulatory matters, ethics and professional affairs.
Merrifield has worked in most phases of construction equipment manufacturing and is active in industry safety groups, including the Aerial Work Platform Council of the Scaffold Industry Association, where he was chairman for the past three years.
