MicroLogic

iSite is an integrated fleet management system that transmits the exact location, run-hours and key operating metrics of equipment to an office PC in real time, using satellite communications, GPS positioning and Internet technologies. With on-demand access to timely, accurate and pertinent information on equipment, a rental company will get more out of its existing resources and waste less time. A low-power, ruggedized remote transponder is installed on each piece of equipment and collects location data from a GPS unit and operating information on the condition of the equipment. This information is then sent via satellite and wireless networks to MicroLogic's Information Management Facility, which analyzes and formats the data, customizing maps and reports to meet a client's specific needs.

Teydo Americas

Teydo Americas' FleetOnline GPS tracking solution includes two new features: geofencing and notification. FleetOnline now allows users to set up alerts that are delivered to mobile phones so that the owners will be informed of events such as unauthorized motion, geofence violations, theft alerts or low battery levels. The owner can be notified if a piece of equipment enters or exits the geofence, or virtual boundary. The machine's location can then be sent to a mobile phone as well as to an e-mail account.

Keytroller

Keytroller's keyless ignition simple system eliminates the ignition key with one lighted start/stop button. The button is enabled with the operator's company RFID card. A user simply flashes the card over the dash, and the button is illuminated green if accepted. Then the operator presses the lit button once to start the engine and again to stop. The system can be mounted to any internal combustion or electric vehicle.

DeWalt

DeWalt's MobileLock GPS locator and anti-theft alarm aims to help professional contractors better protect mobile assets on jobsites. The global positioning system feature allows contractors to locate the MobileLock unit in real time using the Internet. The portable, wireless unit can be mounted to equipment using integrated heavy-duty magnets or fastening the unit into place using screws. The GPS locator can help users find stolen or lost assets at any time and an alarm notification alerts the user when the protected piece of equipment has been disturbed or if someone tries to remove the MobileLock unit. If the protected asset is disturbed, the alarm is triggered and the contractor receives a call or e-mail notifying him or her that there has been a security breech.

Qualcomm

Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS equipment management system automatically tracks and locates equipment for improved equipment utilization and workforce productivity, as well as increased revenue. The system updates location data for equipment to ensure that the equipment is where it is supposed to be and logs machine usage hours, which helps companies with scheduling and equipment maintenance.

The GlobalTRACS system helped Thoutt Brothers, a Denver-based construction contractor, recover a stolen skid-steer loader. The GPS-based positioning tools pinpointed the missing equipment's location. “Sometimes we were nervous for days because we could not find a piece of equipment,” says C.J. Thoutt, equipment manager. “Now, with GlobalTRACS, we can track and locate each piece of equipment quickly for precise job scheduling and superior customer service.”
