MIAMI - Continuing to rapidly expand its GE Energy Rentals unit, GE Power Systems has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Spot Coolers of Miami for undisclosed terms.

Spot Coolers specializes in providing temperature and power generation rental services to commercial and special events markets. Founded in 1989 by president Robert Harden, the company carries cooling equipment ranging from 1 ton to 3,000 tons, and diesel generators up to 300 kVA.

Launched last summer, GE Energy Rentals, Schenectady, N.Y., is now operating in 15 major markets, including overseas branches in London, Sydney and Brazil, and recent moves into Las Vegas and Dallas.
